PING - Modern Trends in material engineering

The Department of Materials and Engineering Metallurgy and the Regional Institute of Technology are organizing the tenth edition of the international conference PING.

The conference languages will be Czech, Slovak and English

About the conference

Conference date: 10 - 11 September 2025
Venue: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Univerzitní 22, 301 00 Plzeň

The conference focuses on modern trends and knowledge in the field of materials engineering and covers the fields of metallography (light, electron microscopy, X-ray), forming, heat treatment, welding, etc. The conference provides a platform for students and professionals from academics and research institutions to share the latest knowledge, technology and experience in the field of materials engineering, engineering metallurgy and related fields. The focus is on sharing information on current trends and challenges, promoting innovation and finding solutions to key issues such as sustainability, efficiency of production processes, development of advanced materials and application of modern technologies in industrial practice.

Conference topics

  • Additive manufacturing (3D printing)
  • Characterisation of microstructures obtained by thermal and thermo-mechanical processing
  • Mechanical testing and thermophysical measurements
  • Modelling (technological, material) and simulation in heat treatment and metal forming
  • Non-ferrous metals
  • New techniques and methods in metallography
  • High-entropy alloys (HEA)
  • Thermal and thermomechanical processing of metals
  • Metal forming
